
Jarita Askins

For decades, Jarita Askins served as a role model and dependable ally for the members of the Women’s Oklahoma Golf Association. Her dedication to the excellence of the game for women and young girls alike, coupled with her own outstanding playing record, shows the balance that has made her a symbol of success.
As a member of the WOGA for more than 50 years, Jarita was a natural leader. She was instrumental in developing new golf opportunities for Oklahoma women such as the Southwest Oklahoma Women’s Golf Association and the Duncan Divot.
Jarita is credited with implementing the USGA Course Rating System for women in Oklahoma. In addition to her love for the game of golf, she was heavily involved in the civic, social and religious affairs of the city of Duncan. She did all of this while being a devoted and giving wife and mother. Jarita was an inspiration to all who have come to know her through her lifetime of unselfish service. She passed away March 22, 2009 at the age of 85.
